Guild Leadership Meeting
Arizona Quilters Guild Board Members (L-R) Sharon Long, Cathy Mathiasen, Gloria Carns, Barbara Polston, and Judy Jackson create their Quilt Quest Color Wheel at the AQG Chapter Chair Leadership Meeting.
On February 5, 2005, we introduced the Quilt Quest program to the leadership of the Guild at the annual Chapter Chair meeting, attended by Chairs of our 42 Chapters (local quilt groups) and many of their support staff from all across the State of Arizona. A total of 93 quilters participated in this event. Our collaborative efforts in directing the exercises such as the fabric color wheel and the rubber stamp activities from the Quilt Quest materials were received with great interest and enthusiasm by our leaders. Their participation in the exercises clearly demonstrated to them that the program can be used to help youth gain a historical perspective of the role quilts have played throughout history, ow the program can be used to teach people of all ages about quilts as a part of their heritage, as well as how to design actual or virtual quilts. Our leaders see the Quilt Quest binders as a wonderful resource tool that can be used to help people of all ages, ethnic or educational backgrounds, learn to appreciate and care for quilts as an integral part of their lives.
