Mesa Southwest Museum Girl Scout Day
BACK
AQG assisted with Girl Scout Day at Mesa Southwest Museum on November 19, 2005. Brownies and Girl Scouts attended this event, and AQG provided volunteers in a variety of capacities. Many of the activities were from the Quilt Quest curriculum. The girls worked toward a quilting patch, as there is not currently a badge for quilting.

In the Starlight Theater, Rita Blocksom provided a slide presentation and there were eight AQG Volunteers with sewing machines who taught girls about quilt blocks. Hand sewing techniques were also highlighted. A variety of hands-on activities were available, including Quilt Block coloring pages, designing and gluing Nine-Patch blocks from the Quilt Quest book, and knot tying. Quilting books and magazines were available for distribution to the troops.
